Simon has extensive experience in high value international commercial arbitration and cross-border litigation over a broad spectrum of sectors, having acted for clients in the telecoms, private equity, financial, maritime, offshore, power and aviation sectors including acting in some of the world’s largest telecoms disputes.  Simon has acted for both claimants and defendants in the English high court and in arbitrations under the LCIA, ICC, AAA, UNCITRAL, SIAC, LMAA and VIAC rules, as well as having significant experience of the offshore courts in Guernsey, Jersey, the Isle of Man, the British Virgin Islands, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands.  Simon’s experience also extends to restructuring and insolvency matters, and to regulatory and civil/criminal investigations under the U.K. Bribery Act and the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Simon has a detailed knowledge of the enforcement and annulment of international arbitral awards and judgments.

Simon is a solicitor, admitted in England & Wales, and has acted in matters before the English courts (including the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Privy Council) and before international tribunals.

Prior to joining Woodsford, Simon was a Senior Associate in the London office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where he specialised in complex, high value international arbitration and cross-border litigation.  Before joining Skadden, Simon helped to establish the international arbitration practice of the London office of US firm O’Melveny & Myers LLP.  Simon holds a Masters Degree in International Trade and Maritime Law from the University of Southampton.
